1w4d - Firsts

We have had a bunch of firsts this week. Here are some highlights:

First Bottle
Since Kate is such a good eater, we decided to go ahead and get her used to eating out of a bottle now, too, so that other people can feed her the milk I pump. I wasn't too worried about nipple confusion since she's had a good latch from day one, but I was worried that she wouldn't know what to do with a bottle. I was wrong. She latched right on and did a great job. K has started feeding her a bottle every night, so she's had 3 bottles now and has done a great job each time!

First Time in the Sling
I got a Hotsling to use when I'm doing things around the house and need to cart the kiddo around with me. We decided to give it a try the other day just for fun (even though I still couldn't do a whole lot around the house - we unstacked the dishwasher). I got her in and out without any problems and she really seemed content in there. Gives me hope for later when she decides she wants to be held all the time.

First Real Bath
This came after the spit up/blow out fiasco on Tuesday. She didn't like it very much. She was ok at first, but then got a bit fussy. She did like having the warm water poured over her, though, and seems to like having her hair washed. Bad mommy didn't take any pictures - I was too busy trying to keep her warm and snuggly and get poo bits off her back. I'll have to take a picture of her second bath...it's almost as important right?

First Paci (we are in mourning - RIP paci)
We registered for and received about 4 different kinds of pacifiers because we heard that babies can be fussy about which ones they want. The big surprise to us? She wanted NONE of them. The hospital gave her one while we were there and that is the ONLY one she would use. We tried every other paci in our arsenal and she spit every one out and cried. She had to have THE paci. The problem? I was scared to death that we'd lose it and be SOL in paci land. It was a paci I hadn't seen before. Yesterday I finally looked at the name on the paci: gumdrop. So I looked it up online and found out that it is made by the same people who make the soothies (which we have and tried). This paci is so much better than the soothies, though. It is lighter weight and softer. And it is smaller, so it doesn't cover half her face. And it has a hole in the tab so you can use a pacifier attacher. I highly recommend them! (http://www.gumdroppacifier.com). I decided I better go ahead and order some direct from the manufacturer. No joke, half an hour after I placed the order THE paci got eaten by one of the dogs. I died. And then I cried (hormones - it was her first paci after all). And then I did a dance of joy that I looked at the name on it and placed the order before it was eaten. Our new pacis should be arriving in 6-10 days. Pray we make it that long without. :)

Here are some "just for fun" pictures:
